Narrowband UVB Light Therapy

Learn about the treatment we provide and what to expect.

There are several different forms of light therapy. They use different wavelengths of light and are intended for different purposes.

At Darian Light, we use narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) phototherapy, which delivers light within a narrow range of ultraviolet wavelengths (311–313 nm). It is delivered using medical-grade equipment within a structured clinical program under clinician supervision. Dosing is individualized and adjusted over time based on each person's response.

Our goal is to help you understand the treatment we provide and what you can expect throughout your care.

Is This the Same as Red Light Therapy?

You may already be familiar with red light therapy. While both involve the use of light, they are different therapies that use different wavelengths and are intended for different purposes.

Red Light Therapy

Uses visible red or near-infrared light.

Commonly offered in wellness settings.

Narrowband UVB Phototherapy

Uses a narrow range of ultraviolet wavelengths (311–313 nm).

Long-established medical phototherapy used in dermatology.

Although both use light, they serve different purposes. At Darian Light, we focus exclusively on narrowband UVB phototherapy, delivered using medical-grade equipment as part of a structured clinical program under clinician supervision.

Why Is Narrowband UVB Phototherapy Clinically Supervised?

Narrowband UVB phototherapy is not a one-size-fits-all treatment. The appropriate dose and the rate at which it is adjusted vary from person to person.

Throughout a course of care, treatment is individualized based on each person's response. Clinical supervision helps guide dosing decisions, monitor progress, and make adjustments as appropriate over time.
